Malm Dressing Table Storage

Wednesday, 30 October 2013

Hello everyone! Today I thought I'd show you my make up and brushes storage now that I've finally got it the way I want it. So this is the Ikea Malm dressing table. It's a pretty basic dressing table with a shiny glass top. It doesn't have any other built-in storage other than the large pull out drawer underneath but sadly, this doesn't have any compartments. So for the last few months, my make up has been rolling about aimlessly while I've tried to find something that's the right width and depth to fit in the drawer without losing any of the space.

storage trays for malm dressing table

After months of hunting, someone suggested that I try the Rationell Variera Cutlery trays from, wait for it, IKEA. I can't believe I'd missed these, but I'd never thought of checking in the cutlery section! So I went and bought two of these trays and they were perfect! I'm in storage heaven.

Each tray is the perfect size for sorting make up into sections and it leaves a little space at the side for palettes or extras that are too big. If you have a total storage obsession like me, you'll know how good it feels to have it this organised!

For brushes, I use this painted jar from B&M Stores which is a really good size. I used to use an empty (cleaned out) Yankee jar for brushes, but I think this one with the printed message makes it a really nice decoration for a dressing table.

What do you use for storing your make-up?

  3. I have a really similar dressing table to this but in black, I wish the IKEA Alex unit came in black so I could get that :) I think I might need to get the cutlery tray though, it will help me organize it so much better :)
