The Sweater Weather Tag

Wednesday, 27 November 2013
Hello! I never usually do tags on my blog but I've saw the Sweater Weather tag come up a lot recently and had to do it since this is my favourite time of the year!

1. Favorite candle scent?
It's so hard to pick but I'd have to say Red Apple Wreath by Yankee. It's the perfect Christmas smell. Second to that would be Christmas Cookie! I've ordered both this year :)

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?

I drink tea every morning all year round, but I always embrace the hot chocolate in Winter time. I'll usually get a hot chocolate mid-morning instead of a snack :)

3. What's the best Autumn/Fall memory you have?

Me and my sister have a tradition that we do a shopping trip to Edinburgh every Autumn to get coats and boots. We get wrapped up, get some hot chocolate for the train and shop all day - this always includes buying lots of fleecy Primark PJs!

Our Edinburgh trip in October - and the Christmas decorations were already up :)

4. Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?

I wish I could do winged eyeliner properly but I just can't get both eyes to match! Wearing dark lips is one of my favourite things in Autumn/Winter. My favourite one at the moment is Rimmel 'Starry Eyed' which is a lovely dark plum colour!

5. Best fragrance for Autumn/Fall?

I love Lancome 'Tresor Midnight Rose' (the Emma Watson one!). I got it in the Boots sale last year and I still love it. It's an evening scent and smells a bit like blackcurrants!

6. Favorite Thanksgiving food?

I'll skip this question since we don't have thanksgiving in the UK!

7. What is Autumn weather like where you live?

I live in Scotland so the weather is totally unpredictable! This year it's mostly been quite dry, cold but sunny too - which is my favourite kind of weather!

8. Most worn sweater?

At the moment, it's the black floral print jumper from River Island that I wore in this post. It's such a lovely print and it's really nice knitted material.

9. Must-have nail polish this Autumn/fall?

I've been loving Barry M's shades this year. My favourite just now is 'Raspberry' which is a dark pinky plum that's similar to Essie 'Bahama Mama' (another favourite of mine!)

10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?

I'd pick anything over Football ... jumping in leaf piles!

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?

I live in my black skinny Jamie jeans over Winter and don't really wear leggings as much as I used to. Probably because I like wearing jumpers just now and with leggings, I'd usually have to wear something a bit longer! I always wear leggings in the house though :)

12. Combat boots or Uggs?

Combat boots - Mine are into their second year and I still love them!

13. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?

Hmm, I don't know .. I've never tried it! I go for a Starbucks hot chocolate every time :)

14. Favorite Autumn/fall TV show?

'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here' is my favourite at the moment. Love getting cosy during the week and catching up on what's happening in the jungle! I used to love X factor in the run up to Christmas but I just can't get into it this year.

15. What song really gets you into the Autumn/fall spirit?

Any Michael Buble songs remind me of being warm and cosy! I'm waiting on my Michael Buble Christmas CD to arrive, can't wait to sing along in the car!

Let me know if you've done this tag so I can have a look at yours too!

REVIEW || Schwarzkopf got2b 2 Sexy Big Volume Mousse

Schwarzkopf got2b Big Volume Mousse review

Hello everyone! Recently I've been trying to make more effort with styling products for my hair. I've been watching hair care videos on YouTube and one thing that came up a lot was volumising mousse. I saw the 'Schwarzkopf got2b 2 Sexy Big Volume Moussementioned a few times and when I saw it in Superdrug for £3.99, I decided to give it a go.

Firstly, this stuff smells amazing. It smells like raspberries and it's just the perfect level of scent for a hair product - when you can smell it on your hair without it overpowering your perfume!

I use this mousse when my hair is damp - so I'll either wait for it to air dry slightly or towel dry it for a bit. I spray a little of the mousse onto the tips of my fingers and put it right into the roots of my hair, starting at the top and working my way down, then I comb a little through the lengths.

The instructions recommend drying your hair upside down, which I started doing a while ago anyway. This really does work for flat hair! I've noticed a massive difference since using this mousse. There's a lot more lift at the roots which makes my hair look much thicker. It doesn't leave my hair feeling crispy at the roots either, which is what I'd expected from a mousse.

I really, really like this product and I've been using it every day. It's definitely opened my eyes to the world of volumising mousse and I've already got my eye on a few others that I want to try!

Have any of you tried volumising mousse?

Hey everyone! Today's outfit is mostly about wearing as many layers as possible! It definitely switched from Autumn to Winter this week, it's been absolutely freezing! I was a bit disappointed when I realised that my Winter coat (from this post), isn't as warm as I thought it would be. So I've got plans to head to Zara on Wednesday to pick up one of their famous down jackets. I had one a few Winters ago and it was the warmest jacket ever. Zara coats are like a big sleeping bag - exactly what I need on those dark mornings when I'm scraping ice off my car and hating life.

I'm also (finally) starting my giveaway today!

John Lewis Christmas gifts
Hello! It was only a matter of time before I started throwing out the Christmas Wishlists. I've actually been compiling my own for the past month or so (*cough* August *cough*) but I've held off until now so it's more socially acceptable!

There's not really a big thing that I want this year. I don't like to ask for clothes because I'd rather wait for the Christmas sales. There's nothing worse than getting a big present for it to be half price the following day! Me and my boyfriend have agreed that we'll just buy some little surprises. To make it easier, I've said I'll make a list of the types of things that I like and then I'll still be kind of surprised at what he picks. A full-on surprise is a bit too risky!

My favourite place for gift ideas just now is John Lewis. The site has all different sections for boys, girls, grandparents etc. which makes it so much easier to find presents for family and friends. Here's some of my favourite things on the site that are making their way to my Christmas list!

Vagabond Teddy Bear Hot Water Bottle (£15) - I love a good hot water bottle during Winter and this bear one looks like it would be extra cosy.

Laura Mercier Crème de Pistache Hand Crème (£13) - I think Christmas is the perfect time to get things that you'd never normally buy yourself. Laura Mercier is such a luxurious brand and comes in lovely packaging, which makes it a really nice gift for anyone.

TOPSHOP Lipstick and Mirrored Blush Gift Set (£12) - I love that Topshop have brought out gift sets! They're inexpensive too and I'd be really happy with one of these in my stocking!

John Lewis Apple Knit Handwarmer (£5) - I thought this would be a perfect little stocking filler. I'd love one of these in each pocket of my coat to warm me up on the way to work!

Origins Ginger Treats Collection Set (£25) - Ginger is my favourite Christmasy scent ever. I've got this on my own Christmas list and I think I'll actually buy a set as a gift for someone too!

Vagabond Waffle Wheat Wrap (£12.50) - I have one of those microwaveable penguins from La Senza that smells like wheat and lavender and it's just the best thing ever for taking to bed on a cold night. This is the same kind of idea - it's a big microwaveable blanket that's lavender and wheat scented. It's meant to be good for stress and migraines but I think I'd use it to warm up on the couch and relax after being out in the cold!

What's on your Christmas list this year?

FOTD || Everyday Natural Makeup

Wednesday, 20 November 2013
Hello! I had some spare time this morning before work so thought I'd take some pictures for a 'Face of the Day' post and make the most of the good light. I've been keeping my make up quite simple recently to save time in the mornings and let me sleep (and stay warm) a little longer!

Nars Orgasm Blush

I've been keeping my make up quite simple for work recently and rediscovered a few products that have really helped to brighten up my complexion (much needed in this weather).

So here's what products I used today (and a lot of other days too)...

Straight after moisturising, I mix a little Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in 'Sand' with a tiny bit of L'Oreal Infalliable foundation. The colour name has rubbed off on the L'Oreal foundation, but it has a strong yellow tone which corrects the colour of the Double Wear as it's slightly too pink for me (despite being a warm shade!). I apply my foundation using the Real Techniques Stippling brush then take Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer and mix the shades 'Light' and 'Medium' under my eyes. Then I take the shade 'Light' down the centre of my nose and dab into my skin with my fingers. I contour in all the usual places using my Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 'Deep Matte 04' by The Body Shop and the Real Techniques Contour Brush. For my eyebrows, I use a Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil to shape and fill in, then Benefit Brow Zings wax to keep them in place. I use Bourjois eyeshadow in 'Beige Rose' (a light shimmer) on my brow bone, tear duct, inner corners and on my cheekbones to brighten my face. I'm not doing much to my eyes these days - I just use a little of Urban Decay 'Buck' eyeshadow in the crease, line my lashes with Stila Stay All Day eye liner and apply a few coats of Maybelline 'The Falsies' mascara. I use a little of my Nars blusher in 'Orgasm' and lightly powder my t-zone with some Laura Mercier Loose Setting powder in 'Translucent'. And to finish off, I apply some of my favourite lipstick which is Estee Lauder Kissable Shine in 'Venice Kiss'. And that's me done!

OUTFIT || Fluffy and Midi

Cream Fluffy Jumper // Primark (similar here)
 Floral Midi Skirt // Topshop
Chunky Silver Necklace // Primark
Leather Jacket with Fur Collar // Topshop (last year)
Nails: Barry M 'Raspberry'

Hello everyone! I am still alive despite the lack of posts this week. I've been so busy and the dark mornings and nights haven't exactly helped - even when it's a nice day I've been struggling to get good pictures. I'm going to keep a lookout for a good camera in the Christmas sales because this one just isn't cutting it - if you've any recommendations, let me know!

I've been wearing this midi skirt quite a lot recently with tights and boots. I think it's so much comfier to wear a midi skirt with tights, I feel a lot less self conscious when I know there's another layer under there. And the colour of this skirt makes a nice change from all the red I've been wearing recently!

I was hoping to have my giveaway up this weekend but there's still a few extras I want to get. Watch this space, it'll be up soon! :)

How I'd Style Printed Trousers

Sunday, 10 November 2013
Bird Crest Angora Jumper by Boutique £85.00 // Topshop
Platform Boots £29.99 // H&M
Knit Bonnet with Pompom £9.99 // Zara
Lip stick in 'Wicked' £8.00 // Topshop

Hello! Sadly I don't have an outfit post this week, I've got something really important on at work that I've had to prepare for, and just haven't had time to get much else done. I'll maybe post a late one during the week if I have time!

Recently I've had my eye on these printed jeans from Motel Rocks, so thought I'd do a quick post on how I'd (like to) style them. I love A/W florals and think the mustard pompom hat goes really well and brings out the colours in the pattern. I'd keep the top half quite simple and picked this gorgeous white jumper from Topshop - it's a bit pricey though so I'll have to look out for that one in the sales! It's bad enough that I'm excited about Christmas already, but it's even worse that I'm excited for the Boxing Day sales! Oh how I love this time of year!

Do you like this outfit?
How would you style printed trousers for A/W?

November Beauty Wishlist

Tuesday, 5 November 2013
Hey everyone! I've been Winter-clothes obsessed recently and it's been a while since I've posted a beauty wishlist, so I thought I'd show you what I've had my eye on lately!

LUSH  'Snow Fairy' shower gel - This stuff just smells like Christmas to me, it's like heaven! I don't have a bath and I hate missing out on Lush bath bombs, but this bubblegum scent shower gel totally makes up for that. I really can't wait to get it!

MAC 'Frankly Scarlet' blusher - I actually went into Harvey Nicks on Saturday to get this but it was sold out, so I'll need to have a look in Frasers next time. I've seen this used in some A/W tutorials and it although it looks bright and scary in the pan, it gives a lovely, light rosy glow.

Essie 'Bahama Mama' nail polish - I wore this colour almost every day last year and (I think for the first time ever), I actually finished the full bottle. I've been wearing red nails a lot recently, but still haven't found anything that beats this colour in Autumn.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator foundation - I've been alternating between the same two liquid foundations for a year now, and although I like them, I really want to try something different. I've read good reviews on this foundation, saying it has medium coverage with a satin finish, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm going to go into Boots, get a sample and try it out for a bit though because it's quite pricey. Have any of you tried it?

What beauty products have you got your eye on just now?

OUTFIT || Autumn Flowers

Autumn Outfit Black Skinny Jeans

Black Jumper Outfit Post

Affanita Mid Heel Chelsea Boots OOTD

Black Rose Print Jumper // River Island
Charm Tassel Cross Body // Michael Kors (no longer available)

Hello! Today's post was meant to be on what I wore to Edinburgh yesterday, but the lighting wasn't very good in the pictures and they didn't turn out well. SO, I decided to change the outfit completely to show you what I actually bought in Edinburgh and to avoid the lighting problem, I decided to do my first outdoor pictures. I really like them, apart from the terrifyingly pale hands, so hopefully I'll be able to do more outside if my boyfriend agrees to help again! :)

Yesterday, me and my sister went to Edinburgh for a little shopping trip. I'd planned to buy some dresses for work because I'm running extremely low on that front. But I hate buying work clothes, who wants to spend their hard-earned money from work on clothes to wear to work? Not me. Especially when I can buy a nice flowery jumper instead. I've had my eye on this jumper for a while now, it's knitted really finely (if that makes sense) so it's really soft and I love the colours.

These are the boots that I had on my wishlist a while ago - as expected, I caved and bought them during the week. I've worn constantly since I got them and they're finally breaking in, so they're getting comfier every day!

I'll hopefully have a Giveaway up in the next week, there's just a few more things I want to get! I can't wait to show you all what I've picked :)
