Yesterday was my last day of work for THREE WEEKS. Well, kind of. I have to go in for 2 days in between because I didn't have enough holiday hours left .. but that doesn't sound as good. So .. THREE WEEKS!  I'm going to Portugal next week with my family and I can't wait! Another reason why I'm over the moon is that I caved and bought the Miss Selfridge Avril boots from my last post. Admittedly, the photo quality is horrendous - but I was home alone and had to take these myself, with my phone.

I think these boots are my favourite purchase of 2013 so far and I know I'm going to wear them loads! They're so comfortable! I chose to put a picture of my ghostly pale hand at the end to show this lovely ring from Primark. I can't get enough of their jewellery at the moment. I really wouldn't be surprised to find the same stuff in Topshop at ten times the price!

I have a wedding reception tonight so might do another outfit post in the next few days :)

What's your plans for the weekend??

Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment Review

Macadamia Oil Review

Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment Review

I'm absolutely obsessed with Macadamia Oil products. The Deep Repair Masque and Blow Dry lotion are every-day products for me .. or every-wash, I should say! Both have done wonders for my hair so I decided to go all out and try the Healing oil treatment too. I love Moroccan Oil but it's so expensive and thought this could be a cheaper alternative. In fact, I thought it would be better! I've been using this on wet hair before blow drying and it's definitely a bit smoother on the ends when dry, but there's not a noticeably amazing difference like there was with Moroccan oil. When I tried this on dry hair after styling, it smoothed down my dry ends and improved the look of my hair - but this was short lived. If anything, my hair puffed up more than usual after a few hours. Disappointing! I still love the brand and the other products but I won't be repurchasing the Healing Oil treatment.

Available at CheapSmells and is £15.95 for 125ml

Cut Out - Western Style

Thursday, 18 April 2013
UK fashion blog
1. Avril Cut out Boots £65.00, Miss Selfridge
2. Advance Cut out Western Boots £70, Topshop
3. ALDO Santurtzi Buckle Ankle Boots, ASOS

Have you ever found something you want but can't have, then noticed that it starts popping up here, there and everywhere and you can't hide from it? That's what's happened with cut out boots. I found this pair on Miss Selfridge and fell in love. A lot of cut out boots have a rounded toe, which I think makes my legs look stumpy. These western style boots are perfect and I can already think of loads that I'd wear them with! I've saw some lovely posts featuring cut out boots which has made me want them even more - specifically denim shorts, boots and fringe bag combo! I'm going on holiday in less than two weeks and can't afford to get them right now ... but I feel like they're calling my name? It would be rude not to, wouldn't it?

Do you own a pair? What do you wear them with? (help me justify this!)

Benefit Review || Confessions of a Concealaholic

Wednesday, 17 April 2013
Benefit beauty blogger

Hello!

A few weeks ago I was wandering aimlessly around Frasers with a £20 voucher burning a hole in my pocket. I decided to get the 'Confessions of a Concealaholic' because it's great way of testing out different products.

It cost £28.50 and includes Erase Paste, two shades of Boi-ing concealer, Lemon Aid, Eye Bright and That Gal primer - not a bad deal!

What did I like?

I love that you get two shades of Boi-ing - I mix them to get the perfect colour. I use it on spots, under eyes and any discolouration. I put my BareMinerals over the top and it stays in place all day! I would definitely repurchase this on it's own in future.

I also liked the Erase Paste but was given shade 2, which is slightly too dark. I think it would be really good under eyes because it's so peachy toned.
I'll try this out again when I get a bit of a tan.

Boi-ing Concealer (Shade 1/Shade 2)
      Erase Paste (Shade 2)

Eye Bright is a light pink highlighter which I tried on the inner corner of my eyes, it was okay but nothing special.

What didn't I like?

I tried the primer under liquid foundation and under powder and it just didn't work for me. I found it left my face quite greasy. It's pink in colour so I can see why it would be brightening, but the formula didn't suit my skin type.

I was surprised at my opinion on Lemon Aid. This is a creamy yellow corrector which counteracts any blueness or discolouration on the eyelids. I've read great reviews from people who only wear liquid eyeliner so use this on the lids. But for me, it creased really quickly.

Would I recommend?

Definitely! I love that I was able to try so many products for only £28.50. I've always been curious about these products and probably would have purchased them at some point anyway to try them out. I'm sure this will last for a long time and when it's done, I'll know what I like enough to repurchase!

OUTFIT POST || A burger with a knife and fork.

Black Joni Jeans fashion blog outfit

UK Fashion Blogger

On Friday night, I went to the Dunblane hydro hotel with my boyfriend Andy. We got a really good deal through 'Hotel Connexions' which gave us dinner, bed and breakfast for £45 each :-) its a lovely hotel and dinner at the Nick Nairn restaurant was so good! Although I was pressured into eating my burger with a knife and fork since it was so posh! (Is that right? It felt wrong.)

I wasn't sure what to wear because Id never been before so I played it safe. I wore my new black Joni jeans from Topshop (which I love love love!) and my new necklace and clutch from Zara. I've got a wedding reception at the end of the month and got these with the plan of wearing them with a black midi - which I haven't got yet! I've been considering whether to return them because its a bit difficult to buy the accessories before the dress. BUT since I've found a way to wear them already, I can justify keeping them! *wooooooo*

Lovely view of Dunblane from our room :)

bareMinerals READY SPF20 Foundation

Sunday, 7 April 2013
I've always wanted to try bareMinerals but thought it was aimed at people with 'perfect' skin. But when I heard about the new 'Ready' foundation compact which offers fuller coverage, I decided to give it a go. I had a full face of bareMinerals Ready foundation applied at the counter in Jenners, Edinburgh. I was matched to colour 'R250' which is good for now, but I feel I might need to buy a darker colour post-holiday. The colour range is impressive and the MUA took his time to match me perfectly.

I purchased the starter kit which includes the foundation (also available with the original powder), the bareMinerals 'Full Flawless face' brush, contour brush, concealer brush, primer, 'warmth' (bronzer) and the mineral veil (setting powder) - loads, basically! The total was £50.00. Considering the compact itself is £25.00, I think that's a fantastic deal.

I've been using the 'warmth' bronzer to contour and the mineral veil over my forehead and chin to set the foundation. All the products work so well together and I've realised I actually look forward to putting this on in the morning! (sad, I know!) The best thing is that is it's completely free of harmful ingredients and I hope that, in time, my skin will continue to improve which will allow me to buy the lighter coverage next time! Fingers crossed!

Final conclusion - love this stuff !

My Duck Egg Bedroom - Finally.

Saturday, 6 April 2013
Duck Egg Blue Bedroom colour scheme

It's. Finally. Done.

I'm so glad to be posting this!

My new bedroom is finally finished and I'm really happy with it. It's a total change from my last room which was quite neutral coloured with old, ugly fitted furniture. I decided this time that I wanted to make it brighter with some colour on the walls and white furniture.

I chose the colour 'Duck Egg' paint by Laura Ashley.

We got our furniture from Ikea. The dressing table, double chest of drawers and tall boy are all from the 'Malm' Range with the clear 'Tobias' chair, and the double wardrobe is the 'Pax'.

For such a low price, they're really good quality and the storage space is unbelievable, especially in the wardrobes. I love that we could pick our own set up for the inside of the wardrobe. For my side, I picked two wide box containers on the bottom for shoes, two shelves and a rail and it's perfect!

I got these patterned storage boxes from Ikea as an extra, but I actually feel like the pattern makes the room come together! They're perfect for a hoarder like me and they're already full up of products that I'll probably never use!

Most of my other decorations are from B&M or Matalan. I bought this glass jar as it's the perfect size to keep my make-up brushes and I love that it says 'Do whatever makes you smile'. The other plaque was from B&M too!

I'd say I'm 99% finished decorating this room - the only thing is the cushions on the bed. I need another one in a similar colour to the walls. I just haven't found one in the perfect colour yet! (Let me know if you can help!)

Can anyone recommend any good blogs on home decorating??

BLOGGER ADVICE: Help Me Style My Leggings

Tuesday, 2 April 2013
I actually had an Edinburgh haul post planned for tonight - but I don't have all my pics on this laptop and can't bring myself to leave anything out .. so that'll have to wait until tomorrow! :)

I picked up these gorgeous motteled leggings from Topshop at the weekend and absolutely love them.

They're textured, kind of velvet-y material and have a lovely fit. They're really thick material and I'd actually call them trousers if it didn't say 'leggings' on the label.

UK beauty and fashion blog

I plan on wearing these on Saturday night when I go into town for a catch up with my friends but I cannot seem to put an outfit together that I'm totally happy with. And I suppose there's never a better place to ask than on a blog!?

So I'm looking for some opinions, how do you think I should style these?

What style of top/jewellery/heels would look best?

I will do an outfit post before I go out on Saturday .. *if* I can find the perfect outfit :)
