Gold Plated Shoes

UK Fashion Blog

Hey, I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything's right...

Just a quick post today - I have new shoes excitement, so I had to share.

I fell in love with the Celine Gold Plated Oxfords a while ago, after seeing them on some (very lucky) fashion bloggers and Pinterest. More of 'want but can't have' obsession, but a girl can dream. Then last week, I was doing a bit of on line window shopping*, and these little beauties caught my eye. It might be a coincidence, but I think these slipper shoes have Celine written all over them. I LOVE the gold detailed plate at the front, and I actually prefer the shape of these to the Oxfords. They feel really well made, and in my opinion, they look much more than their £35 price tag. Expect to see these a lot in my future outfit posts!

You can find the ASOS Lewis Slipper shoes here.

*Someone needs to invent a modern phrase for this.

Necklace: H&M // 'Red' Aztec Jacquard Mini Skirt: New Look
Black Cut Out Boots: River Island // Pleather Back Pack: H&M

Hello! And for some of you, happy pay weekend! I got paid yesterday and woke up feeling like I'd won the lottery! I definitely got a bit overexcited and carried away with the old shopping this weekend. I'm sure I'll regret it in the next few weeks but right now I'm on a total shopping buzz!

This outfit features two of those sneaky pay day purchases, this jersey skirt and leather back pack. I saw this leather back pack in H&M during the week and knew I'd have to come back for it - I've wanted one like this for ages! I love the zip detailing on and it's really spacious too.

I also managed to pick up this jersey body-con skirt in New Look's 20% student discount offer, so I got it for something like £11. A not-so-guilty purchase! The pattern is a bit brighter than it's showing in the pictures - orange is actually one of the more prominent colours in it and I really love it. The material is really thick and stretchy too, which is a must on a skirt like this!

I've had such a busy week so I'm looking forward to chilling out tonight and watching Catching Fire with my boyfriend. Oh, and one last thing! I have some exciting news! I found out on Thursday that I got accepted as an ASOS Insider and I'm SO excited! I can't wait to see what it brings, thank you ASOS! (Let me know if you're an insider too!)

What did you get up to this weekend? Let me know if you've been shopping too!

Boohoo Spring/Summer Favourites

Thursday, 23 January 2014
Boohoo Favourites Fashion Blog

Some of you may be drinking hot chocolate right now, wrapped up in fleecy onesies or some of you might even still be wearing Christmas jumpers (although I hope not). I was one of the last people to accept that Christmas is over, but in the last week or so, that's all changed. I can now say, with confidence, that I am probably as far out of the Christmas spirit as I could ever be. In fact, I'm actually a bit further than that. Yep, I've started planning my Spring/Summer wardrobe.

As much as I don't want to wish my life away, January is so utterly depressing that I can't help but focus my mind elsewhere - a sunnier, happier place! I'm at that point in the season where I'm bored of jumpers, scarves and tights and I just want a change. So eventually I gave in and started Spring shopping. Goodbye 'cosy' ... show me the shorts, skorts and kimonos!

I found myself on the Boohoo website, and before I knew it I was filling my (imaginary) shopping basket and planning outfits. I'd forgotten how much I love Boohoo for summer clothes. Not only do I love what they sell and their prices, I love how each item is individually styled in the pictures and how useful they are for outfit inspiration. Not a lot of places have their Summer range out, but I thought I'd show you what's caught my eye on Boohoo so far.

The metallic 'Sasha' strappy boots are my favourites. I love that petrol effect (if that's what it's called) shine on them and they'd go with pretty much any outfit I can think of. I also love the outfit above with the oversized denim jacket over the pretty skirt and top - although I can't find the jacket itself on the site, this style is definitely on my list. I'm also loving co-ordinates at the moment and I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect short/blazer combo!

Have any of you started Spring shopping yet??

My Favourite: Fashion Blogs

Sunday, 19 January 2014
Hello! Hope you've all had a fun weekend! Since it's the weekend before pay day, mine was uneventful and involved a lot of window shopping. I fear for my debit card on Saturday morning, it'll probably melt under the pressure. Anyway, I'd normally be doing an outfit post today and up until now, that had been the plan, but for some reason my pictures have turned out terribly. So instead, I'm going to bring my posts forward and start my new series today. Hope you all enjoy it!

This week, I'll be posting every day* with my current favourites in fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I already have quite a few ideas for topics but if you have any suggestions, just let me know in the comments or tweet me any ideas! (@MeowMaisy)

*edit- This was a major overcommitment, will definitely post at least 4 this week! My bad.

Today, I'm going to pick my current favourite fashion blogs .. ('in no particular order' and all that) ...

This is a new-ish discovery of mine and has quickly become one of my favourite blogs. Wonderful You is written by the lovely Megs. Outfit posts are my favourite at the moment, and this blog always has a mix of different styles of casual and evening outfits. I must warn you though, you're about to get some serious hair envy.

Charissa Rae

Charissa Rae has been one of my favourites since I first starting reading blogs. We have quite similar taste in fashion, so I find this blog really useful when I'm looking for some inspiration. Definitely a favourite!

LLYMLRS, written by Lily Melrose, is one of the most popular fashion blogs in the UK and has a huge following. It's pretty obvious why, Lily has a huge wardrobe selection, incredible fashion sense and posts outfits every day.

What are your favourite fashion blogs? Leave links in the comments!

Rimmel Colour Rush Balm - ' The Redder The Better '

rimmel colour rush review the redder the better

rimmel colour rush the redder the better review

rimmel colour crayon review and swatch

Hello everyone! So if you've read my blog for a while, you'll know I've been on the hunt for the perfect daytime red for the longest time. My aim has been to find a moisturising, bright red that's also long wearing and smudge proof - because for me, daytime make-up is supposed to be low maintenance. Lipstick smudging paranoia is bad enough already without the harsh, unforgiving light of day to add to the pressure. Ain't nobody got time for that.

On my every-ongoing shopping spree for red lipsticks, I came across the Rimmel Colour Rush Balm and decided to give it a go. To start, this colour 'The Redder The Better' is the exact red shade that I've been looking for. Pale or tan, this will suit. This is important for me because, as a fake tan lover, I vary between both ends of this scale throughout the week. (and if you remember my 'Week in Outfits' series before Christmas, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.)

The balm formula is really moisturising. This is something I wasn't expecting having tried similar products in the past, that seemed to do the opposite and dry my lips out. When first applied, this has a very moisturised to somewhat glossy appearance but once it's 'set', it becomes less glossy and more natural, which I prefer. This continues to moisturise throughout the day without reapplication, and feels like it protects my lips from the cold Winter weather too.

Last but not least, and my absolute most favourite thing about this product is the ridiculously good staying power. I've done a few long day shots wearing this, and it easily glides past the 6 hour mark, and that's with eating and drinking in between. As soon as the product has fully absorbed into the lips (10/15 minutes after application), you're good to go for the rest of the day.

This product is everything I've been looking for and I can see these lip crayons quickly earning their own little corner of my make-up drawer! I've got my eye on some neutral shades next...

Have any of you tried this?

What's on my ASOS Saved List

Monday, 13 January 2014
Hello! Now I don't know about you, but when I know I can't have something it makes me want it even more. And ever since I've been on a (forced) spending ban, my ASOS saved list has been getting bigger and bigger. I'm actually quite surprised it hasn't crashed the site.

So for today's post I thought I'd show you some of my favourite things on the list...

Kate Spade Gold Watch (here) - How pretty is this?! I don't think I've seen a watch like this before. The colours on the face and the strap make it so unique and perfect for Summer. It's a bit pricey for a spontaneous pay day purchase though so I'll need to get saving!

ASOS Photoshoot Pointed Heels (here) - These shoes are the nicest pointed shoes I've ever seen. I've got a few things coming up that I'll need to dress up for and I know these would go with whatever I wear. Go and have a look at them on the site too, they look even better on!

Insight After Glow Shirt (here) - This isn't my something I'd normally go for, but I just love how they've styled it on the model and, although it's a bit pricey, I think it'd be so versatile. I could dress it up with a skirt and heels, or dress it down with denim shorts in the Summer too.

ASOS Brushed Check Ovoid Coat (here) - I've worn my black coat (this one) to death this Winter and recently I've been itching to get more of a statement coat to mix it up with. I love this print and the colours are a bit different to other checks that I've seen. It's been reduced in the sale and they still have my size, so I'm taking that as a sign.

Have you got your eye on anything from ASOS at the moment?

OUTFIT || Christmas Boots

Sunday, 12 January 2014

Cropped Jumper: Primark // Leather Zip Skirt: Zara
Cut Out Block Heel Black Ankle Boots: River Island (here)
Patterned Socks: Primark // Oversized Biker Coat: Topshop (sold out)
Chunky Necklace: H&M // Faux Fur Headband: Barts (here)

Hello! So I'm finally back to my normal routine after Christmas which means I'm back to Sunday outfit posts! I took a lot longer than everyone else to get out of the Christmas spirit and must admit I only took my Christmas tree down during the week! I just wish there were more annual events that we could decorate the house for - preferably with tinsel but I'm open to suggestions.

So for this weeks outfit I thought I'd wear my new boots that I've been living in since Christmas. They go with everything and they're so comfy and easy to walk in. The heel is the perfect height for me, so much that I'd actually pick these over flat boots if I was going to be walking around all day. I love the small cut out detail on the side too because it means I can wear black socks if I want to keep them simple, or patterned socks like these if I want to show it more. So far these are my favourite socks to wear with them!

Oh and I've added loads to my Blog Sale page this weekend, so make sure you have a look!

What did you all get up to this weekend?

January Beauty Wishlist

Thursday, 9 January 2014
uk beauty blogger

Hello! Hope you're all having a good week, I'm so glad it's nearly Friday! I'm trying to stay positive in the horrible month that is January, so I'm thinking of it this way - every day is a step closer to pay day! Since my Christmas overspending came to light and I realised I was on an involuntary spending ban, I've managed to come up with a huge list of beauty products that I want/need at the end of the month. This might have something to do with all the '2013 favourites' posts that made me realise there's so many things I want to try! Here's some of the things on my list ...

Naked 3 Palette - I can see why everyone's raving about the new palette from Urban Decay. The colours are absolutely stunning and really different to the first two palettes. They seem to be sold out everywhere at the moment, so hopefully by pay day I'll be able to get my hands on one!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer - I saw this mentioned on a '2013 favourites' blog post ('Birds Words') and it made me wonder why I've never tried this. Double Wear foundation is my all time favourite and the staying power is unreal, so I have very high hopes for the concealer! (here)

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer - It's literally only been in the last few days that I've heard of this. Some people have said it's a dupe for Benefit Porefessional (which, judging by the packaging, was intentional!), and since I'm in need of a new primer, I'm going to give this one a try instead and save myself half the cost. Have any of you tried it yet? (here)

Mac Mineralise Skinfinish - I've heard so much about this powder, yet I've never got round to going into Mac to try it. Boots really need to get a Mac counter, don't they?  (here)

Real Techniques Starter Set - I am a huge fan of Real Techniques face brushes, so I know I won't be disappointed with this set of eye brushes. They have a little stand too to keep them looking nice on my dressing table! (here)

What's on your beauty wishlist at the moment?

REVIEW || Nars 'Ride up to the Moon' Palette

Nars eyeshadow review

nars ride up to the moon

nars ride up to the moon swatches
Nars 'Ride up to the Moon' palette, £32 (here)

Hello! Apparently yesterday was the most depressing day of the year, and I can totally see why. I checked my bank account for the first time since New Year and it's safe to say I'll be living very quietly until the end of the month. On the bright side, it'll hopefully help me stick with my New Years resolutions - one of which is to post more frequently, all the free time should help!

Anyway, today I'm going to do a review of the Nars 'Ride up to the moon' palette. I'd actually wanted this for Christmas, but couldn't find it on line anywhere. I was in Frasers in Buchannan Street (Glasgow) a few days after Christmas and thought I'd try my luck and ask if they had it. I couldn't believe it when I got the last one! If you've been trying to get a hold of this, I'd recommend phoning lots of different places to see if they have a few spare, you might be in luck!

'Ride up to the moon' includes 6 eye shadows. The colours are:

'Argentina' (top left) - A lovely pale gold which is the perfect every day, neutral colour. I've been wearing this with Urban Decay 'Naked' in the crease and some liquid eyeliner. I love this colour!

'Isolde' (top centre) - An orange-toned bronze that reminds me of Mac 'Woodwinked' when it's on. Like 'Woodwinked', I'd say this is more of a Summer shade when worn on it's own, but when it's worn with the other shades in the palette it's a lot more subtle and pretty.

'Night Porter' (top right) - A gorgeous emerald green shade that goes so well with the other colours. I've always loved this shade of green for the eyes, even if it's just worn under the lower lashes for a little bit of colour. This looks really good when it's blended with 'Isolde'.

'Biarritz' (bottom left) - This is a cream matte shadow for highlighting. It's a pretty standard shade that's nothing special, but I think you always need one of these in a neutral palette.

'Fez' (bottom centre) - A medium warm brown with a subtle gold shimmer through it. It blends so nicely into the other shades but would also look lovely as a lid colour on it's own.

'Cordura' (bottom right) - A dark brown with a more obvious glitter in it (similar to 'Darkhorse' in the Naked palette). This is the perfect shade for the outer corners if you're doing a smoky eyes make up look.

As you'd expect with Nars, they're all really pigmented and really easy to blend. The packaging is perfect too, with a really big mirror so it's easy to carry around in your handbag if you need to top it up when you're out. Price wise, I'd say it's definitely worth the £32 price tag. A duo palette comes in at around £25, so an extra £7 for 4 more shades is a bargain in my opinion!

Have you tried this palette?
What's your favourite Nars eyeshadow?

New Years Eve Outfit

Thursday, 2 January 2014

topshop jumpsuit outfit
Mono Floral Jumpsuit // Topshop (here)
Black Cut Out Chunky Heels // Boohoo
Embellished Clutch // Zara
Layered necklace // H&M (worn backwards)

Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you all had fun celebrating wherever you were. Me and my boyfriend decided to avoid the city centre after a nightmare taxi episode a few weeks ago, so went to a new bar that's opened up round the road from me. They had a live band playing and it was such a good atmosphere - from what I remember, it was an excellent night! Luckily, I managed to shake my hangover off in time for a big steak pie dinner at my mums. (I'll start my healthy eating resolutions on Monday okay...)

I had my eye on this jumpsuit for a while so when I saw it on the Topshop sale, I had to get it. I'm never usually a jumpsuit fan, but I love the pattern and material of this one and I know I'd be able to put a jumper over it to wear it casually too. I did have a bit of a 'duh' moment when I wore it the first time though. I'd used (a lot of) tape on the top to stop my strapless bra from flashing at the sides, which turned out to be a big problem when I went to the toilet and realised there was no way out. Jumpsuits aren't the most practical. Silly me.

I've decided it doesn't feel right starting my new years resolutions mid-week, so I'm putting it off until Monday - procrastination at it's best!

Have you got any New Years resolutions?
