I was really excited to be introduced to the make-up range, 'Emotional Brilliance', at a recent Lush event (post here). I'd never tried it before and to be honest, was a bit intimidated by the plain packaging - was this lipstick or eye shadow? It might sound crazy, but when I heard they were 'pigments', I assumed they'd be powder. I also assumed you'd have to do some weird, complicated mixing process to turn them to your desired make up form. Ain't nobody got time for that.
Turns out I was totally wrong. We were shown the liquid lipsticks first, and I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a simple doe foot applicator - like a normal lip product! The colour I loved the most was called 'Ambition' and I was so excited to find this little beauty in my goody bag at the end of the night (thank you girls!). 'Ambition' is described as 'pillar box red' but I think it leans more on the orange side, which is more noticeable in the top pictures. For me, a pillar box red is a Winter shade, but I think Ambition is a warm orange-red and perfect for Summer.
If applied directly to the lips, the colour is bold and opaque, but if you wanted a more subtle look, you could apply a small amount and pat it in. The formula contains 'jojoba oil, rose wax and candellila wax base to soften dry lips' and feels lightweight and lip-balm like. The finish is moisturised, but not glossy. I'm not a fan of super-glossy or matte, so right in the middle is perfect for me.
It feels quite wet at first, but settles after about ten minutes. After this, it literally does not budge. I took it off at night, had a shower, went to sleep and my lips were still stained in the morning! For me, the initial result lasts about two hours without re-application, but the stain lasts all day.
I'm so excited to have found a new make up range to explore and I'll definitely be visiting Lush again soon to explore the rest of the lipstick colour range. More posts to follow!
Have you tried any of the Lush make-up range before?
p.s what do you think of the pics? There's so much to learn with this new camera, and I definitely need to improve my selfie skills, but I'm quite happy with my first attempt!
