Hello! So I've been on the hunt for the perfect nude lipstick for the longest time. I don't like to try lipstick testers on at a make-up counter (does anyone?) so I often end up picking a colour, only to get home and realise it gives me the dreaded 'death lips'. I was browsing around Superdrug the other day when I spotted the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains looking pretty in their own little stand. And on offer too - down to £5.99, why not?

It was the packaging that caught me at first. The clear casing giving a little colour preview reminds me of the YSL Glossy Stains, and I think this must be Revlon's own take on that product. I picked up 'London Posh' which is a lovely warm nude. As you can see in the pics, it's a really natural looking 'barely there' kind of colour, but I don't think I've found the perfect nude quite yet. I think it's ever so slightly too pale for my natural lip colour, but I suppose the colour will be better on me in a few months as I get paler and paler! Otherwise, it's probably quite a good all-round nude colour for a lot of people.

Colour aside, it's a lovely rich gloss-type formula that softens as it's applied. After a while, it gives a naturally moisturised stain on the lips - basically what it says on the tin. The colour lasts really well, and doesn't feel sticky whatsoever - bonus points for that! I'm going to continue my search for the perfect nude, but I'll definitely go back for more shades of the Colourstay Moisture Stain. At the moment, I've got my eye on Barcelona Nights and India Intrigue for my next purchase!

Have you tried any of these? What's your favourite nude?

New YouTube Video: TMI Tag

Tuesday, 26 August 2014

Hello lovelies! So I haven't made a video in a few weeks (my bad). In my defence, I actually did film the Closet Confidential tag last Sunday, but I wasn't feeling great at the time and when I looked back on the video, I looked horrendously tired and had the voice of a wee mouse. So I've decided to put that one aside, and instead I've jumped on the bandwagon and filmed the TMI tag. I'm a bit nosy so I love watching these videos - I hope you like watching mine too!

If you do, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel :)

Hello everyone! Excuse the late post, I actually got up this morning and made the conscious decision to be as lazy as possible today - it's not often I get a bank holiday off so I had to make the most of it! I did make a new YouTube video today though, so it wasn't totally wasted. Make sure you subscribe to my channel if you want to catch that later in the week :)

I've had a super long weekend because I had Friday off too. Me and my sister Kirsty went to Edinburgh on Saturday to do some shopping for her birthday - she managed to find loads, and I made a mental list of all the things I'm going back for on pay day! Well done, will power. Well sort of.. I couldn't resist making an exception for these shoes. I think these will be a love/hate thing for some people. Personally, I love them - they remind me of the shoes I used to wear in high school. And funnily enough, the girl in the shop said they were reduced for the 'back to school' period, so yeah, they're school shoes. I love them though. I bought them for wearing with tights and a dress but I actually really like them with these jeans too. Oh, and today was the first day I dug out my coral coat out from last Winter - summer is well and truly over! *secretly celebrates*

What do you think of these shoes? Have you picked up any good bargains lately?

Lace Trim Shorts: Urban Outfitters | T-Shirt: Bank
Leather Jacket: Topshop (old) | Sandals: Primark | Backpack: Primark

Hello lovelies! So I got these shorts about 3 weeks ago - when the weather was consistently hot and we didn't think twice about putting on shorts, dresses, sandals... but in a cruel twist of fate, Summer basically ended the very next day and my shorts were no longer weather appropriate. It all happened so fast! So there I was, wearing my pretty shorts, shivering and looking out the window into the rain and thunder clouds - what a sad, sad (and over dramatic) situation.

Luckily, I was able to wear these for a few hours this week when I went shopping, even if it was a little chilly. As expected, I love these shorts. They're just perfect - super comfy, with gorgeous lace detail and a rose print that will never go out of fashion.

I really like clashing the print with the stripes on this t-shirt, but I think I'll just wear them with a plain white cami top on holiday which should bring out the red a bit more. Oh, speaking of red, I tried out my red lip crayon for the first time since the Winter. I  still love it, but I forgot how it makes me a bit paler than normal. Hence why I'm currently covered head to toe in fake tan as I write this!

Have you packed away your summer stuff yet? How would you style these shorts?

MURAD Blackhead & Pore Cleansing Duo.

Murad Blackhead remover
Murad Blackhead remover

Hello lovelies! I'm actually so excited to tell you all about this product today! It's quite a big post, but if you hate blackheads, keep reading. So last month, I was invited to the launch of the new MURAD Skincare counter in Debenhams, Glasgow. I hadn't used the brand before, so it was interesting to learn about the products and I was lucky enough to get some products to try too!

I was most excited to try this blackhead removing duo. I don't know about you, but blackheads are the absolute bane of my life. No matter how much I use pore strips, cleansers or those terrifying tweezer like contraptions, they just won't budge. The MURAD approach is slightly different to these. This duo contains a Blackhead Remover (step 1) and a Pore Refining Sealer (step 2).

What to do.

The first step is a thick, white, exfoliating paste that you apply all over the nose area (or wherever you want to treat). I apply it quite thickly, but you don't actually need much product to do this. Then, you wait. The paste doesn't harden, but this gives it time to sink into the pores. After about ten minutes, you apply some water to the area and get scrubbing. I love this bit, the little scrubbers in the paste are just the right texture and you can really feel it removing all the dirt and oil.

Next is the most important bit, in my opinion. So at the presentation, we learned how blackheads actually form in the first place. It's basically a blocked pore, which starts out white then turns black as it's continually exposed to the air. This is why step two is so important. This serum has a special ingredient that seals the pores and helps to prevent blackheads from forming again.

The Results.

The results of this are so impressive. I noticed a real difference after the first use, and after doing this process weekly, my blackheads are noticeably reducing as time goes on. I don't think there will ever be a product that makes them vanish overnight, but the fact that this actively works towards preventing them is what makes the difference for me. The price of this duo is £50, which is quite pricey but it's two products I suppose, so it's about average for high end skin care. The quality reflects the price though and I can tell these two are going to last a long time.

Overall I'd totally recommend this product if you're at the end of your tether with blackheads. I'm going to keep using this on a weekly basis, and genuinely expect to be blackhead free in the next few weeks - a day I thought I'd never see!

Have you tried anything from Murad? What do you use to remove blackheads?

So it turns out I didn't hide my tired eyes very well that morning - if you agree to ignore the face in this post, then I'll agree to use more concealer next time I've had a late night! Anyway, it was a lovely, sunny day on Friday so me, my sister and my nephew spent the afternoon at Mugdock Country park. If you saw my last post, you'll know I'm super excited for Autumn - and even more so now that we spotted the leaves have started turning red and orange! *celebrates*

This outfit was put together with optimum comfort in mind. We were spending the evening at my mums, having a barbeque (which we ate inside) and watching films, so this t-shirt was an obvious choice. I've been wearing this a lot lately, it's a good one to reach for when I'm not feeling creative because everything goes with it and I don't need to think too much about my outfit. I tied this checked shirt round my waist to add a little bit of colour, and my favourite bag of the moment - my Zara satchel! You're probably sick of seeing this bag on all my posts, but I must warn you - it's going to be a favourite in autumn/winter too!

What did you get up to this weekend?

The Sunday Wishlist #2

Sunday, 17 August 2014
Open Back Boots: Topshop | City Bag: Zara | Rose Cami Dress: Miss Selfridge
Tartan Skirt: River Island | Red Lace Up Shoes: Topshop

Hello! Hope you've had a good weekend so far. I have another wishlist for you this week, and this time it's an extra dreamy one! I've been doing a lot of window shopping this week and I've found some things that are definite purchases of the future! Sorry bank account.. :)

I have a night out at the end of the month and I've decided I'm going to treat myself to a new dress. I spotted this beautiful rose sequinned cami dress on the Miss Selfridge website (reduced from £65 to £50) and fell in love with it! It's so pretty, and one that would be wearable all through autumn and winter (for nights out, of course). I might be getting ahead of myself but I actually think the colours would make this  a lovely Christmas dress too!

Another definite is these red lace up shoes - how nice would these be with a casual dress and tights, or with black skinny jeans and a coat. I have a feeling these will be my first Autumn purchase! The tartan skirt is a must too - I totally overdid the red tartan last year I don't feel like I can go there for another year, but this darker green tartan is much more subtle and I love it.

What have you got your eye on this week? Do you like any of these?

Reasons to be excited for Autumn.

Excited for Autumn
image: Pinterest

We're well and truly past the half way point of Summer, and we're on our way to my favourite season of the year! I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited about it.

Here's some of the many things I love about Autumn.

1. Those mornings when the sun is shining, the sky is clear but it's super frosty.
2. Red lipstick.
3. Buying an excessive amount of fleecy Primark pyjamas.
4. Abandoning nail polish maintenance on your toes - no one is going to see your feet until Spring.
5. The thrill of buying a new Autumn/Winter coat.
6. Hot chocolate. All the time.
7. Not caring if you've put on a few pounds because you're living in baggy jumpers anyway.
8. Essie 'Bahama Mama'.
9. Going to bed with a hot water bottle.
10. Yankee Candles.
11. Using your Costa cup to warm up your frozen fingers.
12. Layering.
13. Feeling the warm air hit your face when you walk through the door.
14.  Dark nights.
15. Hiding a bad hair day under a hat. Blaming your bad hair on said hat.
16. The build-up to Christmas. (Yep, I said it.)
17. Warm apple crumble after Sunday dinner - perfect.
18. Drinking a cup of tea with every meal.
19. Hearing the rain on the window when you're nice and cosy on the couch.
20. The festive drinks in Costa and Starbucks. Black Forest Hot Chocolate - you're mine!

Are you looking forward to Autumn? What do you love the most?

Balance Me Moisture Rich Face Cream.

Balance Me Face Cream
Balance Me Moisturiser

Now I haven't bought a magazine for the freebie since I was 8 and after the free blue mascara with the latest 'Mizz', but when I saw Marie Claire were giving away a Balance Me Moisture-Rich Face cream in their latest issue, I was all over that. £2.50? Well it would be rude not to. I've always wanted to try the Balance Me products - I'm not sure why, I think it might be the name. My skin is about as combination as it gets, and this brand seems like they're exactly what I need!

The tube says that it 'plumps, protects and primes' and actually, this is completely true. Is it bad that I'm surprised by something living up to it's promises?! I've been using this face cream in the morning, and since it creates such a lovely base, I've been able to skip my primer and apply foundation right over the top. Make-up applies so smoothly over this and creates such a lovely glow, especially if I'm wearing it under a matte foundation. The brightening effect means it's one to reach for on no make-up days too - it's definitely coming on holiday with me.

The full size bottle (50ml) is £24.00, which is quite pricey, but a little goes a long way with this product and I'd imagine it would last a long time. My sample's over a month old and still going strong. It's not often that I change my skin care but this little wonder product is more than welcome to join the club!

Have you tried anything from this range?

Mint Sequin T-Shirt* and Rose Gold Skort*: Topshop | Shoes: Faith*
Bag: Mango | Rings: Primark | Nails: Michael Kors 'Scandal'

So if you read my mid-year resolutions last week, you'll know I've turned my life around (sorry, bit dramatic) and I'm now attempting to shop my own wardrobe as much as possible. So here it is - recycled outfit number one! If you have a good memory, you might remember this top and skort from when I worked on a collaboration with St Enoch Centre magazine (see this post). I picked out this lovely outfit back in April and somehow, I haven't actually worn these two together yet. How or why, I have no idea because I love this outfit. I didn't properly blog this outfit either so today, it's having it's moment! I wore this to a birthday party on Saturday night, and fell in love with this mint sequin top again. I just love how the sequins qualify it for night-out status, but it's also oversized and comfortable too. It goes perfectly with these metallic shorts - I love this combo.

I filmed a 'Get Ready With Me' video for this look - click the video below to see me do my make up and hair. Hope you like it - hit subscribe if you do! :)

Have you recycled an outfit recently?

The Sunday Wishlist #1: Topshop Picks

Sunday, 10 August 2014
UK fashion blogger

Hello! Hope you've all had a fun weekend. I've sadly lost my favourite day of the week to a hangover and I'm quite gutted about it. I don't feel as bad as I could have done, but it's enough that I can't fully appreciate the day - I really do like to make the most of my Sundays!

Anyway, I spent a lot of my day on the Topshop website so I thought I'd show you some of my favourites. Since it's August, I've made a wee promise to myself not to buy any more summer stuff, so the majority of these are things that are transitional for Autumn too. I'm starting to get drawn towards darker colours now, especially this gorgeous 'mulberry' shade. My favourite Autumn shade by far and luckily, it looks nice with a summer tan too.

Do you like any of these? Which one's your favourite?

Mid Year Resolutions.

Friday, 8 August 2014
writing lists

I've been feeling quite 'list-y' and this is one of the many lists I've made. I think it's unrealistic to make New Years resolutions and expect to keep them for a full year, and they do say it's better to start with smaller goals if you want to make them achievable. I'm trying to avoid the cliché resolutions, because 25 years in, it's getting pretty old. So here's my mid-year resolutions. I've got 6 months to make these happen, wish me luck!

1. Walk More  Recently, I've started leaving the car and walking to or from work each day (weather permitting of course). I was quite surprised/ashamed when I realised how much it tired me out, but I've noticed a huge difference and actually look forward to the quiet time every day. My resolution is to ditch the car whenever I can. The gym, exercise dvds, daily jogs resolutions have never stuck - this one's realistic and no where near as horrific as the 30 day shred. *shudder*

2. Shop My Wardrobe  We've finally started saving for our house deposit and it's been a shock to the system to say the least. It's made me realise how careless I can be with money, and how ridiculous it is to constantly claim I've 'nothing to wear' when I've a full wardrobe in my room. I'm challenging myself to find an outfit from my wardrobe, and save the money. Last night I bought a dress for a party on Saturday, and realised afterwards that it was totally unnecessary .. so tomorrow it's going back to the shop. Eilidh 1 Temptation 0.

3.  Write More Lists  Everything works better when you're organised. Last week I went a bit list crazy. I planned every single meal for the week, and made a really specific shopping list. And our food bill was much lower because I was only buying what we need, and we had better dinners than normal too because we had all the right ingredients. I also planned when I'm writing each blog post, when I'm on twitter chats, when I'm cleaning the house, when I'm tidying. I've found that when I'm organised, I have so much more time. Obsessive list-writing is so under rated.

Are any of you making new resolutions? Let me know what yours are!

Hello! I haven't been very good on the old blog in the last few days, the weather has been horrendous and there was no way of photographing any of the outfits I'd planned. I'll need to remember to make the most of the sunny days next time. And there will be a 'next time', apparently there's another heat wave coming soon - woooo!  *starts filling paddling pool*

So unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you'll know it was the Common Wealth games closing ceremony last night. There's been loads going on in Glasgow so me and Andy thought we'd go into Merchant City for a walk around. We hung about in Merchant Square for a bit watching the big screens, but didn't stay too long since it was so busy. The ceremony itself looked so good - I wish I'd been there!

Last night was the first time I'd worn this pineapple print midi skirt from Primark - I am obsessed with this skirt! I just love the colours and print, and even better - it goes perfectly with my favourite Zara bag. It was also the first trip out for these cut out shoes that I got yesterday - I couldn't wait to wear them. They're the perfect smart/casual shoes and they'll be perfect for if I'm going out for drinks or to blogging events where I'm taking a guess at the dress code!

I hope you liked this outfit! What did you all get up to this weekend?
