Dior Skin Foundation c/o Debenhams*

Back in August, which feels like ages ago, I went along to the Debenhams Beauty Buzz event in Glasgow. We were given a little tour around all the counters where the girls gave us demo's of their new and best-selling products. One that caught my eye was the Diorskin Star foundation. We were told this was a foundation similar to Estee Lauder Double Wear in terms of staying power. Now, I love that foundation but the colours are a bit too pink for me. Since Dior have a lot more yellow toned foundation shades, I thought this would be perfect for me.

Dior have a handheld machine which picks the right shade for you, and on me it picked the shade 031. I didn't try it on properly that night, but it looked like the perfect colour. I picked up 031 a few days later and sadly it turned out to be a bit too warm for me, so I had to wait until I'd had some sunshine on holiday before trying it. This foundation does oxidise slightly though, so I'd recommend picking a shade down than what you'd normally go for. The formula is quite thick so I used my Real Techniques Stippling Brush to apply it. It takes a while to work into the skin but when it's on, it gives an even, medium coverage with a glowy finish. It's buildable if you have red areas of breakouts to cover, although it's fast drying so you need to work quickly.

I have combination skin - the lower half of my face is quite dry but my forehead can be oily at times. With this foundation, my forehead was oily almost straight away which was quite frustrating. In comparison to Estee Lauder Double Wear, sadly I'd say there's none. This foundation only lasted until lunch time before it needed touching up and I even started getting breakouts caused by the extra oil on my forehead. The lower half of my face was fine for most of the day though, so I'd imagine this would work better on someone with drier skin.

I've heard so many good things about this foundation but sadly, it's not the one for me.

Have you tried Diorskin Star foundation? What did you think?

  1. I've had a sample of this before and felt the same way, it just didn't really live up to any of it's promises! x

  2. Oh no, that's so disappointing, I've heard great things about this foundation aswell. I think your skin always looks fab so what you're already wearing does the trick. xx

  3. I LOVE the brands that do the colour matching but haven't tried it, such a shame it wasn't as good as I'd expect though as I have oily skin too EEP no fun xxx

  4. I hate being disappointed by a foundation! the only foundation I use is the YSL touche eclait foundation as it's the only formulation I like - medium coverage, dewey, lasts all day and perfectly matches not only my skin colour but tone. I've been using it for about 3 years and never attempted anything else since!
