Tea Tree Lemon Sage Thickening Shampoo.

Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Happy friday and more importantly .. happy halloween! I'm having a quiet one tonight cos I'm working late, but I can't wait to see pictures of everyone's costumes later. I'll probably mark the occasion with the usual Friday night feast and a scary film - how out of control am I?! Anyway, for today's post I wanted to tell you about two products I've been loving recently. I was lucky enough to attend the Paul Mitchell 'Art of Style' event a few weeks ago. I had a super fun night with my fav bloggers, chatting to the Paul Mitchell girls about the products, trying out the CID make-up range and we even got to have our hair done by the lovely girls from Hely Hair Studio. And as if that wasn't good enough, we were given some products home to try too - cue major excitement overload!

The two that I was most excited about were the Lemon Sage shampoo and conditioner. I've been on the hunt for a new shampoo for a while and the thickening promise on this one both scared and intrigued me. My hair is so thick already, that I've never considered using anything to emphasise that more - surely I'd just end up with a huge, uncontrollable mane..? Another thing was the scent - lemon and sage is something I'd expect to find on my dinner, not in my hair. But let me tell you something - it. smells, amazing. And even better, it works so well.

The shampoo is quite thick, and a little goes a long way. It foams up easily and smells so fresh, clean and luxurious (sorry, hate that word but it's true). There's one thing that I think you only ever get with a good, high quality shampoo and that's when your hair feels squeaky clean but still moisturised. I normally find cheaper shampoos either strip the hair, or coat it to make it shiny - both of which are bad for your hair. I've kept using my normal hair products to style before drying (this and this) and for the last few weeks, my hair has been feeling better than ever - it hasn't been this shiny in years! Once dry, it has a lot more body to it and doesn't seem to fall flat in between washes - which must be the thickening element of it. I'd imagine girls with fine hair would find this makes a big difference too. After drying, my hair feels so clean and healthy and the clean lemon scent stays on the hair between washes too. I love swishing my hair and unexpectedly getting all the lemon freshness!

Overall - I'm so impressed with these and will definitely be stocking up when these two are finished.

Have you tried these? What's your favourite hair brand?

Autumn Nails and Layering Colours.

Rimmel Rita Ora
Rimmel Kate Nail Polish Venus

Hello - hope you're all having a good week. So since I discovered the wonderful top coat that is Seche Vite, I've got a whole new love for nail polish and painting my nails. It makes a huge difference when I know it'll dry quickly and last much longer - so today I thought I'd show you my favourite shades of the moment.

On the left, is Barry M in 'Raspberry' - this was my favourite shade last year and I still love it. It's a slight twist on the standard red nails as it leans on the pinker side. In the middle, is Rimmel Salon Pro in 'Venus'. I spotted this one at the end of Summer and made a mental note to go back for it for Autumn. Not only is the colour a lovely warm, deep red but the nail polish applies so perfectly .. I love the Salon Pro range! Last but not least and the one I'm wearing right now, is Rimmel 60 seconds in 'Rita Rouge' which is a super dark purple shade. It's actually so dark it's almost black, but you can notice the warm tone from the purple. It's quite hard to describe, but it's a really interesting shade and I'm loving wearing this just now.

I've also been layering different nail polishes to create new shades. One of my favourite combinations is a coat of the dark 'Rita Rouge' as a base, and then a coat of 'Venus' over the top.  How pretty are these two together?

Do you like these colours? What's your favourite shade at the moment?

Dark Green Teddy Coat: Red Herring at Debenhams
Collar Top: Primark | Jeans: Topshop | Lace Up Shoes: Topshop | Bag: Primark

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday and hope you're all enjoying an extra hour in bed today with the clocks going back. I definitely think we should do this more often. We'd need to even it up by putting the clocks forward at some point, but I think we could do that on a Monday at about 4pm - sounds fair doesn't it?

I arrived home from Portugal on Friday morning and found it pretty traumatising getting off the plane into the freezing cold wind. I felt a lot better about it when I arrived home to this gorgeous big teddy coat from Debenhams. I'd ordered it before I left and was so excited to finally get my hands on it. I love this style and fabric and this shade of green is one of my favourite autumn/winter colours. Not to mention it's super cosy!

What's your favourite style of coat this season?

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

As someone who doesn't get their nails done professionally, I spend quite a lot of time painting my own and hanging around helpless for half an hour afterwards while they dry. This is what stresses me out - there's nothing worse than serving your time, then discovering a dent or smudge on your newly painted nails. Even the so-called fast drying nail polishes are normally still dent-able for about half an hour. So I was moaning about  this a while ago, and someone suggested Seche Vite top coat.

I picked this up in Boots the other week and I have to tell you .. this stuff is life-changing! I've never been so impressed by a top coat before. After painting my nails, I put on a coat of this and within a minute, it's dry to touch. Within 2-3 minutes, it's dry, hard and most importantly .. undentable! One coat creates a good shine on the nails too. I like nails that are extra shiny, so I apply a second top coat and this gives them the gel nails effect. With this top coat, I get an extra 3/4 days out of my nail polish and they look so much better too. For £9 a bottle, this is a money very well spent.

I've heard, but not experienced, that Seche Vite can become gloopy after a while so it's important to make sure the lid is on tight and you don't leave it off for too long. Other than that, it's perfect. This product has won awards and it's not surprising. It's only been a few weeks, and it's already up there with one of my favourite discoveries ever

Have you tried this before? What's your favourite top coat?

Benefit Sugarlicious Lip & Cheek Kit.

Sunday, 19 October 2014
Benefit Sugarbomb Benetint High Beam
Benefit Sugarbomb Benetint High Beam
Benefit Sugarbomb Benetint High Beam

Hello everyone! Today I thought I'd show you a cheeky little duty-free purchase I picked up recently. If I'm ever in Benefit, I always gravitate towards these mini 'gift' sets. I love being able to try so many products at once and they're always really good value for money. I spotted 'Sugarlicious' and thought the bronze/neutral shades would be a good one for post-holiday skin. I've actually never owned any of these products on their own, so I was excited to try all of them. The set includes Benetint, High Beam, Sugarbomb, a mini brush and a Sugarbomb lip gloss. Not bad for £25.50!

Benetint has been on my wishlist for ages - in fact, I can't believe it's taken me so long to try it! At first, I tried it on my lips and wasn't overly impressed with the colour pay-off. I think it'd take quite a lot of build-up for any real noticeable colour. However, I really love this as a cheek stain. It creates a really natural, rosy glow that would be the perfect barely-there cheek colour to wear with a bold lipstick.

High Beam highlighter is one of Benefit's most well known products. It's an easily to apply, shimmery champagne liquid highlighter. A little goes along way with this and you only need a tiny amount to create a natural-looking highlight. The set also includes Sugarbomb which is a mix-toned blush that works as a highlighter too. I've been using this over Benetint on my cheeks and together they create a lovely natural, glowing complexion.

Lastly, the set includes the Sugarbomb Lip Gloss which is a warm nude gloss with very subtle shimmer. The gloss is really smooth, non-sticky and looks lovely over any nude or neutral toned lipstick or on it's own. It's a squeezy tube and easy to apply without a mirror too - bonus!

***

The sets comes with a 'Tips and Tricks' booklet which shows the best way to use the products together. This recommends Benetint on the cheeks, Sugarbomb on top, High Beam on the cheek bones and Sugarbomb gloss on the lips. Here's a pic of that look below - although I wish I could pick up the shimmer better on camera!

Benefit Sugarlicious Review and Swatches

This is a favourite for me at the moment and sits alongside my other fav, World Famous Neutrals kit, on my dressing table - I'm Benefit mad just now! Have any of you tried this? Which set should I try next?

Things I definitely need.

Maisy Meow Fashion Blog

Hello and happy friday! It's a very happy friday for me because I'm off to Portugal with my family today! We're away for a week and I can't wait to relax on the beach all day and eat lots of lovely food at night time ... show me the piri-piri!

So it's been a while since I've been 'properly' shopping and my wishlist has been getting bigger and bigger. There's a few things that I definitely need to get my hands on before my Autumn wardrobe is complete. I'm so happy that over-the-knee boots are back in this year - it's a style I've always loved so I'm been on the hunt for the perfect pair. I found this pair from Dune and it must be fate because they're half price in Debenhams at the moment! I really, really hope they're still available next week when I get paid - actually, it probably doesn't help advertising them on here... okay, so as long as you're not a size 5, feel free to purchase!

A camel coloured coat is an absolute must this season too - how perfect is this Zara one? The green shirt above is sadly/devastatingly sold out (I've linked the other colour) but I'm determined to get it in this shade. I love dark green in Autumn. It will be mine! So will these leather trousers, if they fit. I haven't had patience to go leather trouser shopping yet - I know it'll be hard to find a well fitting pair but I know it'll be worth it. You can't beat an oversized jumper with leather trousers in Winter - the perfect combo. Oh and lastly, the bag. How perfect - swoon!

What's on your Autumn wishlist? Have you found the perfect leather trousers?

Daroko Power Hair Styler.

Wednesday, 15 October 2014
UK Beauty Review
UK Beauty Review
UK Beauty Review

I have a lot of very thick hair and although I'm quite happy with it most of the time, every second day I have a mini breakdown when I have to spend ages drying and straightening after washing it. Time I'd rather spend doing anything else. So I was really intrigued when I was sent the Power Styler to try - anything that might reduce my drying time is welcome! These little ceramic coated plates clip onto your hair dryer nozzle. The air from your hair dryer heats them up as you dry, making them super hot. Not only does the extra heat speed up your drying time, but the plates help straighten and smooth your hair just like a straightener would. So here's what I thought of them ...

So I start by clipping my hair into three sections and start at the bottom, using a brush in one hand and the hair dryer in the other. You don't have to do a full hairdresser blow dry with a round brush and small sections (which I find difficult anyway) - I just use a large paddle brush and sections about the same width.  It takes a minute for the plates to get hot, but when they do, my hair starts to dry quicker in each section. I had less frizz too, although I still went over with my straighteners afterwards - this is a step I couldn't skip! My hair normally takes about 30-35 mins to dry and straighten, and with these plates it takes about 20-25, with a much smoother result.

Now obviously, the plates give extra heat which isn't always good for your hair. However, it takes a shorter time to dry and the smoother finish means I don't need to use my straighteners as much in between washes. I also use the Tresemme heat protector spray first, which helps protect my hair too. I would say this though - be careful. I was chatting away while drying my hair on holiday and now have a lovely double burn on my arm - silly me! Overall, I'm really impressed with these and I've kept them on my hair dryer ever for the last few weeks. If you have thick or frizzy hair or if it just takes ages for you to dry it, then I'd recommend giving these a go.

Giveaway: A Little Gift from Lanzarote

Maisy Meow Blog
Maisy Meow Beauty Blog

Hello lovelies! So as you probably know if you've been reading my blog this week, I've just got back from Lanzarote. I don't know why, but when I go abroad I have a total obsession with perfumes and spend so much time in the shops trying to find a new one to bring home. This year, I repurchased Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh which is my favourite every day perfume. I also spotted this one, Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose, which I have at the moment, and since it's one of my favourite evening and A/W perfumes, I thought it would be perfect for a little giveaway prize on here.

I got my own bottle at Christmas last year and it's definitely one I'll buy again (for me!) once it runs out. The scent is, I think, like blackcurrant, berries and vanilla. It's quite a deep fragrance but it's in no way overpowering or strong. I usually wear floral scents during the day, so I keep this one for a night out or something special and the warm berry scent makes it perfect for Autumn and Winter too. If you haven't tried this, I definitely recommend you have a spray next time you're in Boots!

Scarf: Primark | Jumper: Primark (last year) | Jeans (Molly): River Island

Hello! So you might be confused if you saw my post earlier today - I was going to launch my giveaway today but Rafflecopter is down and in a moment of madness, I was going to attempt the giveaway without it. But I saw sense and I'm just going to wait until it's back up and running. In the mean time, here's the outfit post I had scheduled for tomorrow.

If you saw my haul on my YouTube channel recently, you'll probably recognise this scarf. I am so in love with it. It's huge, warm and fleecy and I still cannot believe it was only £6. There's other prints available, which I think I'll need to go back for. It's not freezing here yet and not quite coat weather, so I've just been wearing this scarf as an extra layer that I can put on and off easily.

I love how much fabric there is because it means there's so many different ways to wear it. We stopped for a hot drink in an outdoor cafe the other day, and I basically turned it into a blanket to wrap around me! It's also very similar to this (much more expensive) one from Urban Outfitters that I saw on another blogger recently. Not a bad saving, I think! Well done again, Primark.

What do you think of this outfit? Have you picked up any bargains recently?

Holiday Outfit Ideas

Kimono: H&M | Top: Topshop | Skort: Bank | Flatforms: River Island | Bag: Mango

Hello lovelies. Happy Friday! So for my third and final holiday outfit, I obviously wasn't going to miss my last opportunity to wear my favourite kimono from the summer. I love the ombre effect and print on this, and the colours are perfect - they even match the sky in the background! This was a reworked outfit from earlier in the year - I thought I'd wear my flatforms this time to make it a bit more night time appropriate. On this night, we went out to the most amazing restaurant for Chinese food. I've never been a fan of Chinese until then, but I have to say I'm now slightly obsessed. If you're ever in Playa Blanca - highly recommend you try out a place called 'Asia' in the town centre!

I picked up a little gift when I was away, so I'm going to be starting a giveaway on Sunday - watch this space! Follow me here to get an update when it starts!

Cardigan: H&M | Top: ASOS | Shorts: Urban Outfitters (now in sale!)

Well hello there! Hope your week is going well. I'm back to work tomorrow, but let's just ignore that and look back on some happier times with another holiday outfit post! You might remember these shorts from this post a while ago, I'd bought them at the end of summer and was determined to get the use out of them on holiday. This outfit is just really simple and comfortable but the shorts have enough detail to keep it pretty I think. I love the shape of this loose fitting cardigan too.

I wasn't having a great hair day, admittedly. I'd much rather embrace the frizz in a ponytail and avoid the torture of drying and straightening hair in holiday heat. 'It's the humidity!'

If you like these shorts, you're in luck - they're now down to £15 in the UO sale

Hope you like this outfit!

Long Shirt: Primark | Dress: H&M | Shoes: New Look | Bag: Mango

Hello everyone, I'm back! We arrived home from Lanzarote late last night so I'm spending today in my fleecy pjs, blogging and catching up on a weeks worth of tea drinking! I'm loving how cold it is here now. Anyway, this week I have 3 outfit posts from Lanzarote. Nothing special - I didn't buy anything new for this holiday since it's so late on, I'd much rather buy warmer clothes for home. Instead, I just threw together some outfits from what I had. For this first one, I wore my H&M ditsy floral dress with my long sheer shirt over the top. It was quite chilly at night time and this also made the dress a bit more casual, so it was the perfect combo.

I love the sky in these pictures - Lanzarote is such a beautiful place with all the mountains and volcanoes. How pretty is the sky in the pic below? Ah I miss it already!

What do you think of this outfit? Have any of you been to Lanzarote before?

Trying out Primark Beauty Tools.

Sunday, 5 October 2014
I've never tried, or even been tempted to try any of the Primark beauty range but recently something came over me and before I knew it, I'd splashed out a whole £2 on some eye lash curlers and a concealer brush. Well, when they're £1 each, there's no harm in trying. Here's what I thought ..

I actually haven't used an eye lash curler in ages and my old one was a standard Superdrug number. Despite being so cheap, I'd say this one's actually an upgrade on the last one. The handle (?) is much bigger so it's really easy to hold firmly and steadily - we all know the horror of an eyelash curler accident. This one's nicely coloured and even came with a replacement sponge-y thing (technical term) for when it gets too flat or covered in mascara. Most importantly, they made a great job of curling my lashes and I'm so impressed with these. Highly recommended, well done Primark!

I noticed this brush looked suspiciously good quality for £1 so I was really excited to give this a go. I wasn't disappointed. This  brush is dense, firm and perfect for applying concealer over blemishes or under the eyes. As a firm brush, it helps create good coverage and blends really well without being rough on the skin. Now, to be fair, it was only the concealer brush that looked to be good quality. The bigger face brushes didn't look up to scratch, but I'm pretty pleased to find this little bargain and I'll definitely be checking out the beauty stand in Primark again.

Have you tried any of the Primark beauty range? Do you recommend anything?

Hello everyone - hope you're all having a fun week! This is a scheduled post so I'm going to guess and say my week is going pretty good. I'm going/went to Lanzarote this week, so hopefully I'll be lying by the pool when this post is published! Come follow me on twitter and instagram if you want to see some holiday pics and of course, the standard plane wing pic!

This outfit is one I've been wearing loads recently, probably because I'm making the most of my beloved midi skirts before they go to the back of the wardrobe for Winter. I'm clinging on to the midi a little bit longer by wearing it with these chunky shoes from River Island - this means I can wear socks, so I'd say that makes it Autumn appropriate! You might have seen this bag on my latest YouTube haul (see the video here) - I'm still so in love with it and totally recommend you all go and buy one before they sell out! Definitely the best £8 I've spent this Autumn!

Hope you like this outfit! What's been your favourite outfit recently?
