Rimmel Provocalips | Top Right: 'Kiss Fatal BL: 'Make Your Move' BR: 'Kiss Me You Fool'
Oddly enough, I first heard about Rimmel Provocalips on a 'Disappointing Products' video on You Tube. The girl on the video had tried this out, loved how long-lasting it was but then really struggled to actually remove it at the end of the day to the point where she didn't want to use it again. Call me crazy, but this totally sold it to me! When I'm wearing bold lipstick, I'm constantly checking it in the mirror making sure it hasn't smudged and sometimes I just forget to reapply it when it wears off. If I have to work hard to remove it at the end of the day, it's worth it. I picked up the bright red shade, 'Kiss Me You Fool' first and wore it for a day out shopping. I couldn't believe it when I got home and it was still in place, un-smudged .. perfect. After realising this was a keeper, I went back for the deep plum shade 'Kiss Fatal' and more recently, I picked up the nude brown/pink shade called 'Kiss Me You Fool' - which is such a gorgeous neutral colour for every day.
The secret is in the top coat - first, you apply the colour from an applicator at one end. The formula is really opaque and goes on really smoothly. Next, you apply a clear coat from a seperate applicator at the other end, which seals in the colour. After a couple of minutes, it dries to a semi-matte finish and stays put until you decide it's time to come off. Even if you're eating and drinking all night - this does not budge.
After about 6 hours of wear, I usually feel the formula start to dry a bit so I just dab on a bit of lip balm and this sorts it out. Provocalips needs no help, so don't apply lip liner or any other product underneath or it can separate the formula and affect the lasting time. Apply it direct to dry lips, and you're good to go. The '16 hours' claim isn't lying and if you accidently fall asleep in your make-up, you'll wake up with perfect lip stick.
So how do you get it off? I cover my lips in vaseline, then scrub it off with my Lush sugar scrub and this does the trick. At worst, you might need to do it twice. If you're like me and want long-lasting lip colour with zero maintenance throughout the day, I recommend you try these out - just make sure you have a lip scrub too!
Have you tried Rimmel Provocalips before? Do you like these colours?
