The Longest Lasting Lip Colour, Ever.

Rimmel Provocalips |  Top Right: 'Kiss Fatal BL: 'Make Your Move' BR: 'Kiss Me You Fool'

Oddly enough, I first heard about Rimmel Provocalips on a 'Disappointing Products' video on You Tube. The girl on the video had tried this out, loved how long-lasting it was but then really struggled to actually remove it at the end of the day to the point where she didn't want to use it again. Call me crazy, but this totally sold it to me! When I'm wearing bold lipstick, I'm constantly checking it in the mirror making sure it hasn't smudged and sometimes I just forget to reapply it when it wears off. If I have to work hard to remove it at the end of the day, it's worth it. I picked up the bright red shade, 'Kiss Me You Fool' first and wore it for a day out shopping. I couldn't believe it when I got home and it was still in place, un-smudged .. perfect. After realising this was a keeper, I went back for the deep plum shade 'Kiss Fatal' and more recently, I picked up the nude brown/pink shade called 'Kiss Me You Fool' - which is such a gorgeous neutral colour for every day.

The secret is in the top coat - first, you apply the colour from an applicator at one end. The formula is really opaque and goes on really smoothly. Next, you apply a clear coat from a seperate applicator at the other end, which seals in the colour. After a couple of minutes, it dries to a semi-matte finish and stays put until you decide it's time to come off. Even if you're eating and drinking all night - this does not budge.

Rimmel Provocalips Kiss Fatal Kiss Me You Fool

After about 6 hours of wear, I usually feel the formula start to dry a bit so I just dab on a bit of lip balm and this sorts it out. Provocalips needs no help, so don't apply lip liner or any other product underneath or it can separate the formula and affect the lasting time. Apply it direct to dry lips, and you're good to go. The '16 hours' claim isn't lying and if you accidently fall asleep in your make-up, you'll wake up with perfect lip stick.

So how do you get it off? I cover my lips in vaseline, then scrub it off with my Lush sugar scrub and this does the trick. At worst, you might need to do it twice. If you're like me and want long-lasting lip colour with zero maintenance throughout the day, I recommend you try these out - just make sure you have a lip scrub too!

Have you tried Rimmel Provocalips before? Do you like these colours?

Matalan Striped Shift Dress.

Stripy Shift Dress Outfit of the day
Coral Coat Outfit of the day
Striped Shift Dress: Matalan (recent, not online) | Coat: Miss Selfridge (similar here)

I haven't been in Matalan for ages but I wanted a snoop of the home ware last week and inevitably found myself in the clothing section. I've mentioned on here before that I really resent buying office-y clothes - work stuff just isn't fun, but it's got to the point where I've barely anything to wear in the mornings. Early mornings are hard enough - ain't nobody got time for that. So when I spotted this black and white striped dress, I thought it would be the perfect in-between dress that can be worn in and out side of work. It has two small gold zips at each side with pockets, but I actually cut these off because I felt like they were adding too much bulk to the sides. The material's thick and holds its shape well, not bad for only £14! There's so many different ways to wear it - it looks lovely with my burgundy patent shoes too or with my favourite coral coat from last Winter. I found another bargain when searching for a similar one to link - this little number from New Look is only £20!

Sorry for the uninteresting background in these pics - these were taken today while we were out and about, in between the snow and rain. We spent the morning sorting out boring mortgage-y stuff, and the afternoon sorting out all the fun decorating stuff. I was like in a kid in a sweetie shop in Ikea - that place is like heaven to me!

Hope you're all having a good week so far!

Have you picked up any bargain dresses recently?

Exciting News and Big Changes Ahead.

Tuesday, 27 January 2015
Hello again! I thought I'd do a quick post today as a bit of an update, because we've had big news in the last week and I wanted to share it with you all! You might already know that we've been planning to buy our first house this year, but first we had major plans to save, save, save. But last week, we were just chilling out and watching tv when Andy noticed a new house had went up for sale on line. Cue a week of madness, stress and excitement. Although we weren't planning to buy for at least another 6 months, this house was too perfect to miss. It's within walking distance to my family, has a lovely garden and I could see so much potential inside for decorating - this is where a Pinterest obsession comes in handy! It turned out that loads of people were interested and the house went to a closing date on Friday with lots of people bidding, so we put in our best offer and hoped for the best. And on Friday afternoon, we found out that our bid was accepted! If everything goes to plan (fingers crossed), we should be moving in at the end of March. We'll be living in the house while we decorate over the next few years. It's my dream to decorate a whole house from top to bottom, and to have a big garden .. and a bath! (Lush - expect your profits to soar) Anyway, I just thought I'd update you all with our exciting news and explain why it's been quiet on here the last week - we've just been celebrating!

I'm really looking forward to blogging the decorating progress too, hopefully I'll have some good before and after pictures.  Here's some of the pinterest pics I'm using for inspiration - as you can imagine, I'm pinning loads these days .. you can follow my home inspo board here if you want to see some more :)

The New Wayfarer | Smart Buy Glasses

Smart Buy Glasses review
Smart Buy Glasses raybans review
Smart Buy Glasses review
(Frame Colour: Havana | Size: 55mm )

Hello lovelies and happy Friday! Sorry I've been quiet on here this week - the blog post schedule is still a 'thing', I promise! I mentioned on my last post that we might have some news this week, but I won't find out until today so please keep your fingers crossed for me! It's been one of the most stressful weeks ever and the evidence is in the huge dark circles under my eyes. So when Smart Buy Glasses got in touch and kindly offered to let me pick a pair of sunglasses from their website, the timing couldn't have been better.

I've been saying for a while that I need a proper pair of sunglasses - as much as I love buying high-street styles in every shape and colour, they don't do a great job at actually protecting my eyes. I was browsing through the styles on the site and discovered they even have 'try-on' videos on their YouTube channel, which is such a good idea and so helpful if you're unsure of which size or style to go for. Personally, I went straight for the Ray Bans - I love the Wayfarer style and figure if I'm going to get a good pair of sunglasses, I want them to be a timeless style that will go with everything. I'll get my cat eye or heart-shaped sunglasses fix from Primark! I picked the New Wayfarer 2132's in 'Havana', which is a gorgeous dark brown tortoise-shell, and went for the 55mm lens which is the larger size. The lenses are polarised too, which reduces glare and makes them much better for driving.

The glasses arrived within 3 days, and came with a beautiful brown case, proof of authenticity book and a lens cleaning kit too. It was a really quick and easy service from the website and I'd definitely use them again.

Do you like the New Wayfarer?
Do you have a favourite sunglasses brand?

Khaki Overlay Dress: Topshop (sale, similar here) | Boots: River Island (similar here)
Faux Shearling Coat: Topshop | Bag: Primark | Watch: Marc Jacobs

How gorgeous is it when it's snowy and sunny? Me and Andy had such a busy and exciting day today - I don't want to jinx it so I'll wait and see if it works out before I tell you all, but we could have some super exciting news soon! Luckily we had some time to take outfit pictures this afternoon because I really wanted to make the most of this beautiful background. I also wanted to show you this gorgeous dress I picked up in the Topshop sale last week. Khaki is one of my favourite colours and this print totally stood out amongst the mess of the sales rails, and it was reduced to £35 too! This is one of the 'overlay' style dresses, with small cut outs at each side which make it a really flattering style, and one that'll be perfect in summer with sandals too.

I wore it on it's own in these pictures but I could layer it up with a top underneath if it was too cold - which probably would have been a good idea today. Look at my face on that picture up there, braving the cold in minus temperatures with bare arms, all in the name of outfit pictures! That's dedication for you.

Anyway, hope you liked these pictures and had a fun weekend!

Do you like this overlay dress style?

Discovering Superdrug Skin Care.

Wednesday, 14 January 2015
I've had the same skincare routine for the longest time - partly because it was working and partly because I was scared to try anything new in case my skin threw a major tantrum. You can see my previous post on my skincare routine here. I knew the products were quite harsh but they seemed to keep my skin clear until recently, when it started feeling really dry and irritated. My skin's super sensitive, so trying new products is a bit of a gamble.

When I went to a Superdrug event last month, they kindly gave me some products to try including a Micellar Water from their Vitamin E range. Micellar waters have been all the rage recently with Bioderma and the Garnier one being the most talked about, so I was really interested to try this one. After a week of using it, I was so happy with it that I decided to go back for some more of the range. I've been using the micellar water, the facial serum and moisturiser and here's what I think of them so far...

Superdrug Vitamin E skin care review
Superdrug Vitamin E skin care review
The most noticeable thing about this product is how quickly it removes all my make-up. I'd normally have used 3 or 4 cotton pads but with this water, I only need 2. It's also gentle enough to use on the eyes, although it probably wouldn't take off waterproof mascara. After using this, my face feels super clean and soft and it's helped my dry, sensitive skin feel more balanced.

I've actually never used a facial serum before, but this was just £3.99 so I had to give it a go. The consistency is somewhere between a really light moisturiser and a brightening primer. It gives the skin a lovely glow, so it looks lovely under matte foundations like my personal favourite, Estee Lauder Double Wear. I've also been using it at night time under the Intense Cream to give my skin some extra moisture.

My skin has actually been crying out for something like this over the last few months. It's a heavy, non-greasy moisturiser that I've been applying at night time, leaving it to soak in while I sleep. In the mornings, my skin's felt soft and so much healthier. I've always said I had combination skin because my forehead could feel quite oily at times, but I actually feel like my whole skin type is changing just by switching products.

Have any of you had to change your skincare over the Winter months?
What products have you been using?

New Cid Cosmetics I-Gel Trio.

Monday, 12 January 2015
New CID Cosmetics i - gel Long Wear Gel Eye Liner Trio with Brush
New Cid Gel Liner Review and Swatches
New Cid Cosmetic Emerald Indigo Midnight Blue Swatches
(Emerald/Indigo/Midnight Blue)

Today, we're talking eye liner. And for a change, it's not black eye liner. I think it's almost always just assumed that eye liner will be black these days. As something that most of us use every day, it seems like it's almost crying out for someone to jazz it up a bit! I actually hadn't heard of New Cid Cosmetics until back in October time when I was at a blogger event showcasing their products. The brand really appealed to me for a few reasons - the products all had their own little twist to what we normally expect, the colours were a bit braver than my normal neutrals and the packaging was super sleek white and silver which looked really high end.

The I-Gel trio liner was the product I was most excited to try when I got home. I struggle with eye liner at the best of times, and have never really liked/got the hang of gel liner but what interested me the most about this was the emerald green, dark purple and bright blue shades. I absolutely adore the emerald green in this palette, and I've been wearing this on it's own with a neutral brown matte in the crease for shading - which you can see below! This green shade works best for me because of my eye colour and skin tone and I think the blue and purple colours would be gorgeous on cooler skin tones. All the colours have a gorgeous, subtle shimmer too.

New Cid Gel Liner Review and Swatches

The formula is really easy to work with - it's a soft gel and, when used on the brush it comes with, the liner applies so easily. I'd even say this applies easier than my favourite black liner. I don't go for a cat-flick with this, because I think it's nicer just to add some colour. The best thing about this liner is how ridiculously long-lasting it is. I've tried 'smudge proof' thing before, but this is like no other. My normal eye make-up remover didn't make a mark on this, so I had to call on the super-strength eye make-up remover that is Benefit They're Real remover. This might put some people off and I understand that, but I personally love long-lasting make up. I want my eye liner to stay put until it's absolutely certain that I don't want it to be there any more!

New Cid Emerald Green Midnight Blue Indigo Swatches

I'd recommend this to anyone interested in switching up their normal liner for something a bit different, or for anyone who thinks black liner is too harsh on their skin tone. The eye liner i-gel comes in a copper/bronze/stone trio too which looks gorgeous - that one's next on my list!

What do you think of this liner trio? Have you ever tried New Cid Cosmetics?

Nude Nail Polish Revlon
Revlon Sheer Rose Swatch
UK Beauty Blogger Maisy Meow

Hello and Happy Sunday! If you're not reading this in your jammies, wrapped up in your duvet, then I'm afraid you're doing sunday wrong. Unless of course, you're reading this on any other day of the week! I had my 'sunday' yesterday and spent the day in my pjs, watching disney films and blogging so today's a busy one for me.

So I've put away the reds, purples and glitter nail polishes for another year and instead I've went for something on the opposite end of the scale. 'Sheer Rose' by Revlon is a lovely, clean french pink shade with a really subtle shimmer through it. I'd describe it as almost nude, but slightly rosier and it makes a lovely colour for toes too. I've always though these Revlon nail polishes are really easy to apply because of the narrow brush size, and they dry quite quickly too. With a few coats of my favourite top coat, Seche Vite , it stays chip-free all week.

You can buy this shade here for just £3.25 with free delivery.

Do you like this colour? What's your favourite neutral nail shade?

How to get a good nights sleep.

Friday, 9 January 2015

One of my many new years resolutions is to get more sleep at night. I've started going to bed later and later and it's now at the point where I'm very rarely sleeping before midnight. I blame twitter! Lack of sleep can have so many knock on effects on life - there's the obvious ones like feeling tired and grumpy, but it can also leave you with bad skin and cause you to eat more high-sugar foods to give you energy. Also do you ever wake up feeling completely different about something? Or do you ever feel anxious or nervous when you're tired? This is because your brain's thinking all night and processing your thoughts and emotions from that day, and if you don't give it enough time to do this or you interrupt it then this is what makes you feel uneasy. So basically, sleeping more can mean you have better skin, better diet and an overall better mood. It's a winner all round.

Recently I've been trying out some new things to help me wind down before bed. I love This Works Pillow Sprays - a quick spray before bed and the nice relaxing scent of lavender and camomile helps you drift off. I've also been using my wheat wrap that I got for Christmas last year. This is actually a long microwavable bean-cushion that gives a lavender and wheat scent when it's heated. It's the perfect size for putting around the back of your neck or just for cuddling into. The heat is really soothing and I love to sleep with it under my lower back which can get sore after a long day. Camomile and apple tea is a perfect replacement for a tea drinker in the evening - it's caffeine free and tastes so good. All I ever want to do after a shower is lie down, so it makes total sense to have a hot shower to tire me out before bed. If you're lucky enough to have a bath, the Twilight bath bomb is always a good one but if not, I love to use something calming like the Body Shop Vanilla Brulee shower gel

Do any of you have any tips on how to get a better sleep?

Sweet showers: Cafe De Bain Shower Cremes

Wednesday, 7 January 2015
Cafe De Bain Shower Cremes at http://www.maisymeow.com/2015/01/sweet-showers-cafe-de-bain-shower-cremes.html
Cafe De Bain Shower Cremes: Cherry & Almond | Sweet Vanilla Madeleine | Coconut Macaroon

Since I just have a shower in my flat, I can't go total lush-crazy like most girls. I love their bath bombs but I can only use them when I'm away from home, so I always make an extra effort to pick a equally gorgeous smelling shower products as my lush alternative. My usual favourites are Original Source Raspberry and Vanilla, which smells like strawberry milkshake, and Nspa Vanilla shower gel which smells like creme caramel pudding.

Hmm.. do you see the pattern? I seem to like shower gels to smell like sweets and deserts! So when I saw these beautifully packaged shower gels in Superdrug, I had to throw them in my basket. First of all, the pretty pastel packaging is absolutely beautiful and looks so nice on my shower rack. And here's what I thought of each scent..

Cafe De Bain Shower Cremes at http://www.maisymeow.com/2015/01/sweet-showers-cafe-de-bain-shower-cremes.html

The Cherry and Almond Frangipane scent is a bit like marzipan and it's a lovely sweet and fresh scent. I expected Sweet Vanilla Madeleine to be a typical vanilla scent, but it's actually my favourite of the three. Like the NSpa one I mentioned above, it's a bit like caramel or toffee and smells good enough to eat. Last but definitely not least, Coconut Macaroon smells even better than it sounds and the coconut scent takes me back to summer time.

Cafe De Bain Shower Cremes at http://www.maisymeow.com/2015/01/sweet-showers-cafe-de-bain-shower-cremes.html

So if you'd like your shower to smell like a bakery, you can pick these up at Superdrug for just £2.99 each.

What's your favourite shower products?

My 2015 Diary and Blog Planner

Monday, 5 January 2015

With so, so many plans for this year and a huge list of resolutions, I need somewhere to write them all down. My sister Kirsty knows I always use a weekly planner for work, my blog and everything else in life so she gave me this new 2015 diary planner for my Christmas - well actually, it was a gift from my 4 year-old nephew .. but I'm assuming she had something to do with it! I've been so impressed with this diary since I started using it because there's so many different sections that make it the perfect planner for a blogger and list-maker like me.

The diary has a monthly view where I can keep track of my shifts, a weekly view where I can plan posts and things to do and a section for lists, notes, birthdays, blog post ideas and even a section for a wishlist - basically, everything I normally write down anyway. But with this, my random notes actually have their own place!

Other than being super useful, it has a really cute and colourful butterfly design throughout the planner. There's so many different designs of these which you can check out here. If you're a blogger with lots of plans for 2015 or if you just want somewhere to organise life in general, I'd definitely recommend picking up one of these!

Do any of you use a diary or planner to keep organised?
If you're a blogger, do you prefer to write plans down on paper?

Clean Rib V Jumper: Topshop | Leather Skirt: Zara (similar) | Bag: River Island (recent sale)
Shearling Wool Coat: Topshop | Boots: River Island (similar)

And this, is exactly what Christmas does to my face. The sooner I get back into normal eating and exercise, the sooner I can get rid of these newfound chubby cheeks. I'm actually craving healthy food these days, which is definitely a sign I've been overdoing it! When I'm feeling like this, all I want is to throw on something loose-fitting, which is probably why I was drawn towards this oversized khaki jumper in the Topshop sale. I also picked up this stretchy zip jumper which I was so happy with - it's in one of my favourite winter colours and the material is super soft and cosy. Both were half price, which is a pretty good because they'll last for years.

Another good deal was this cross body bag from River Island - a soft, black suede with red stitching detail and chain strap. I was on my way out of the shop when I spotted it hanging alone, abandoned and I was so surprised when I saw it was reduced to £15. At that point, I was convinced it was fate and I wasn't going to ignore that. I've concluded that this bag is the perfect size for every day use - big enough to fit what I need, but not too big that I end up carrying 8 lipsticks, two perfumes and a mug (the genuine contents of my normal yellow satchel).

What's been your best sale find so far? Did any of you make it to the shop on Boxing Day?
