HOME | Bedroom Tour

Wednesday, 10 February 2016
I was watching my house tour vlogs recently and I honestly can't believe how much this place has changed in less than a year. When we first got the house, we stripped it back to an empty shell (see how it was here), progressed to a blank canvas (see that here) and have spent the last six months putting our own stamp on it and making it feel homely. It's taking longer than I thought it would, don't get me wrong, but I'm loving every minute of decorating. We've been working on the bedroom for the last few months, so I thought it was time to give you a little tour to show you what's been done. I'm going to link everything that's still available too.

Grey and white bedroom

So I'm a huge fan of the minimal neutral style, and I've pretty much kept a theme of white, grey and wood all through my house. All of our walls are white, but for the bedroom I wanted some 'colour' (neutral of course) on the walls to make it as cosy as possible. We went for Dulux 'Polished pebble' on the walls which is a lovely soft grey - it's beautiful and exactly was looking for. I love the subtle contrast of white furniture against grey walls, so we went for two 'malm' bedside tables and this gorgeous white wooden bed with drawers underneath. We also have the double set of malm drawers at the end of the bed, with our tv above it. With all of those drawers and the double wardrobe, this little room has an abundance of storage!

In a minimal room, I think it's important to still have texture throughout and I loved the woven style of these lampshades. I picked up the small marble plate (below) from H&M (yep, that one that everyone seemed to buy at same time) to store my jewellery when I go to bed, and sit it next to my dream dictionary (perfect decorative bedside book!), a candle and some artificial plants from ikea - I love some stacked books on a bedside table, it's almost like organised, neat 'clutter'. On the other side, I have this gorgeous grey heart photo frame which we got as a house warming gift - I still haven't put my own photo in it. Oh well, this random baby is cute so who's complaining.

I went for plain white bedding as I actually prefer it when the focus is on the cushions and throws instead. This huge mongolian fur cushion is from Matalan and it's an absolute dream. The back of it is a super soft suede-like material, and I loved it so much that I bought two more for my living room. The two grey velour cushions on either side and the heart embroidered cushion in the middle are all from Next - they're the perfect shade for this room. For the end of the bed, I bought a large throw in the same stone shade as the fur cushion, and to break up the colour a bit, I layered a smaller chevron fringed throw over the top. I wish I could link it, but it's from TK Maxx so it might as well be one of a kind.

This shelf is my favourite part of the room. As a Pinterest addict, I can't say I came up with the idea myself but I knew it would be perfect to add something interesting above the bed. To keep with the style of the room, I went for simple prints from Etsy in monochrome or neutral colours and put them in a mix of white, wooden and grey frames. The wooden frame ties in with the flooring and the frame of the mirrored wardrobes which, oddly enough, I didn't like when we first saw this room. Now I love them! I think I'm going to do a separate post for tips on how to make your own picture shelf like this, as I have tons of advice from my own experiences and mistakes with it. Now that's it all finished though, I'm over the moon with it and I think it totally makes the room.

I hope you've enjoyed this post. I'm calling this bedroom 'finished' for now, but let's face it, I know I'll still make changes and add in some extras now and again. You'll see any bedroom (or any other homeware) updates on my instagram so make sure you're following.

Here's my video tour of the room ...
