Remember 'back in the day' when bloggers used to refer to favourites as their 'HG' products? Well, for me, Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream* totally qualifies for that holy grail status. I'd actually been looking for a new moisturiser for a while when this little surprise came through my door at the start of January. My checklist at the time had a few things on it - I needed a moisturiser that I could apply under my make-up, that would keep my skin hydrated but not shiny or greasy. I also wanted one that I could wear at night too because well .. less products, less hassle. Kiehls must have read my mind because this little tub of perfection ticked all those boxes.
Then created new and better boxes and ticked those too.
After using this on the first night, I noticed my skin was super smooth in the morning. On a scale of 1 to baby's bum, it was scoring very highly but I didn't want to get my hopes up just yet. Whether or not it kept it's performance up under make-up was the main thing. I'm using Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation just now - a notoriously hard to blend foundation that, I find, always needs a good moisturiser underneath it. Once I applied this cream with the foundation on top and blended, I knew it was a winner. It gave a lovely dewy finish, kept my skin hydrated and silky soft all day.
Over the next few weeks, I noticed that my overall skin tone was improved too. I've had a look at the packaging and don't see anywhere that this is something it claims to do, but it might be a result of my skin being so well hydrated. Whatever the cause is, my darker patches have evened out and my skin just looks so much better.
You can buy this in a 50ml tub for £24.00 or, like the one above, a 125ml for £43.50. It's definitely on the higher end of the price scale, but I've been using the larger tub twice a day since early January and it's not even a third of the way down - a little goes a long way with this cream and that really makes a difference when you're considering whether it's worthwhile splashing out.
Have you tried this face cream or any Kiehls products before?
