ad | Baby Bedtime Routine at 9 Months

Monday, 28 October 2019
This post is a paid collaboration with Burt's Bees.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - routine is everything when it comes to babies sleeping well. When Oliver was tiny and keeping us up all night, almost everyone suggested implementing a bed time routine and when we did, the improvement was incredible. Once he knew what was happening and what was expected of him, he started sleeping at the right times and giving us all a much needed rest.

So when Marcus came along, we started trying to get into a routine as soon as we could. It's ever changing when they're small but Marcus is 9 months old now and we've had the same routine with him for at least two months now. We've been lucky that he's been a good sleeper from early on, but I'm sure the routine has helped with this too.

BURTS BEES BABY OIL REVIEW

5.30pm: This is usually around the time that Andy will arrive home from work so I will try and have our dinner ready and on the table. I love that we all get to sit down and eat together - Oliver is always super excited to see his dad after a long day so we have a bit of a catch up and inevitably both boys usually end up completely covered in bolognese, pizza or whatever they've been eating! Marcus always starts to get a bit sleepy around this time too, and one of his habits when he's tired is to rub his hair - I'm sure you can imagine how messy that becomes!

6.00pm The easiest (and cleanest) way to sort out the mess from dinner is to head straight for the bath. They both LOVE bath time and it's a great way to perk them up for the last hour before bed.

BURTS BEES BABY PRODUCTS

We've been testing the Burt's Bees Baby three step baby care routine recently and I am so impressed. The steps include the body wash & shampoo, the diaper ointment with vitamin E and the body oil. All products are paediatrician tested, made from natural ingredients and free from parabens, phthalates, petrolatum and SLS. I think these are all key points we look out for when choosing products to use on our kids aren't they?

I have actually been using the shampoo & body wash on Marcus since he was just a few weeks old. I fell in love with the scent and found myself constantly smelling his little head after bath time! It's a tear-free formula made with natural ingredients and gentle enough for every day use. We put a little in the bath when it's running and then use it to wash both the boy's hair too.

The diaper cream with vitamin E is really thick and creamy. It nourishes and reconditions skin naturally with shea butter, lavender oil and jojoba seed oil. I always find it so comforting using natural products on Marcus. His skin is so soft and delicate and the products I use on him need to be gentle too!

Marcus has quite dry and sensitive skin, so I was really looking forward to trying the baby oil. It's 100% natural and rich in nutrients and antioxidants from apricot and grape seed oils to keep baby’s skin soft and supple. It contains no synthetic fragrances either which is perfect if your children have sensitive skin. I've been really impressed at how much it's helped Marcus's dry skin since using it. You need to use such a tiny amount of it so I think it'll last for a really long time too.

There's no better smell than a freshly bathed baby after using these products - it's heaven!

BURTS BEES BABY OIL REVIEW

6.30pm Once the boys are bathed, moisturised and in their pjs, we head back downstairs for milk and supper. Oliver usually has some bread and butter and Marcus has his bed time bottle. He will (almost) always fall asleep straight afterwards so I always make sure he's got his sleeping bag on beforehand so I can put him straight into the cot afterwards.

7pm Once Marcus is in bed, we'll brush Oliver's teeth and let him watch a bit of telly or read a story before putting him into bed for around 7.30pm. And that's us *hopefully* until the morning!
